ILLUSTRATION.
I've been drawing and painting since I was a child. For me, illustration represents a compromise between art and something more commercial and/or accessible. I try to create drawings that can reach a wide audience in a simple way, even if this means that I restrict myself a little during the creative process. But that doesn't make it any less interesting. Illustration offers a different way of engaging with the viewer, and rising to the challenge is just as much fun and stimulating as letting my imagination run free. I invite you to discover my illustration work.

Card for Saint Nicholas of Fribourg 2017
I entered the Fribourg St Nicholas Card competition in 2017 and was lucky enough to see my design win. 15,000 copies of the card were printed and the money raised from the sale of the cards was donated to a charity. At the time, newspapers were reporting daily on the deaths of migrant children found on beaches. This subject touched me deeply, which is why the drawing depicts Saint-Nicolas, protector of sailors, saving three children, symbolising both legend and current events, on board a boat with a prow representing Saint Nicholas cathedral.

Children's book JE TE VOIS (I see you)
I wrote and illustrated this book for my little brother Matthieu. I first did it in 2013 for his Christmas present, then years later, in 2019, I took it up again, corrected it and redid all the illustrations. It's the story of a boy who is transformed and swaps lives with a monster child who lives in a reality parallel to our own. He discovers his new life, makes friends and even has a lover. But one day, everything stops and he becomes human again. He is torn between the joy of being reunited with his family and the sadness of leaving his adopted family behind. But from time to time, he manages to create a bridge between the two worlds.
Here you can see the original drawing from 2013 and the drawing redone in 2019. I've tried to maintain the original spirit as much as possible. And below, by clicking on the button, you can access the book. It only exists in French, but if you speak the language, you can read it to a child you know, or just for yourself, and if not, you can look at the drawings and create your own story.
